About Doreen

headshop 2015Doreen has been studying psychology since she began her undergraduate work at the University of California, Berkeley in 1980.  She has been in private practice as a psychotherapist for over 36 years, and is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California and Arizona. She has taught graduate school, trained and supervised therapists, and worked in numerous agencies, clinics, and public and private schools throughout her career. She is currently in private practice in Sedona, Arizona.

Her areas of expertise include substance abuse, anxiety, depression, traumatic grief, eating disorders, relationship issues, families, couples and adolescents. She is a certified EMDR clinician and works with both adults and children who have experienced trauma. She teaches mindfulness practices and has integrated Trauma Sensitive Yoga to her practice, for those individuals who are interested and want to rediscover the natural intelligence of the body. As a therapist she combines her strong theoretical knowledge of family systems and cognitive behavioral therapy with solid clinical skills. She counsels adults, children, adolescents, couples and families, working interactively and collaboratively with her clients and providing a safe and non-judgmental environment for healing and growth.
